Ashton Kutcher Clears Up "Craziest" Hygiene Rumor with Mila Kunis

Ashton Kutcher is addressing long standing speculation about his hygiene following a 2021 interview where he and wife Mila Kunis admitted that they didn’t shower much. The actor set the record straight about his and Kunis’s 2021 interview on Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast, where Kunis said that when she was growing up she “didn’t shower very much,” with Kutcher adding that he cleans his “armpits and my crotch daily and nothing else ever.” Of the virality of that moment, “It was the craziest thing of all time,” Kutcher told People. “We made a comment at one point, and people were like, ‘Does he stink? Does he smell?’” “There was a comment on a podcast, so long ago…and people are like, ‘They don’t shower,’” he continued. “I’m like, ‘I shower, I go to the gym, I shower.’” To this, Kutcher’s The Beauty co-star Anthony Ramos asserted, “I can confirm my boy showers.” Of The Beauty, created by Ryan Murphy, Kutcher added, “Ryan came to me and said, ‘Hey, I wrote this role for you. I think it’d be really interesting. I think it’s unlike anything you’ve ever done before, and I think it’s gonna be great.’ And I was like, ‘Okay, tell me more.’” Calling Murphy a “master of his craft,” Kutcher continued, “Ryan is one of the greatest writers on this planet, and the notion that someone’s gonna create something for you to bring to life is humbling.” “Then, when you get in there and you actually get to embody it, it’s just a treat, because he creates this linguistic craft of what the character is trying to imbue on the world and make someone else feel or think, and an architecture to how that individual is doing that,” Kutcher said. “Then you, as an actor, have to find a way to play a juxtaposition to those words.” The actor added that his role in The Beauty is “really the most fun I think I’ve ever had playing a character.” As for the aforementioned bathing comments of five years ago, Kunis said, “I don’t wash my body with soap every day. But I wash pits and tits and holes and soles.” She and Kutcher also admitted that they didn’t bathe their kids Wyatt and Dimitri every single day, and Shepard told “Armchair Expert” co-host Monica Padman that she shouldn’t be washing with soap every day. “You should not be getting rid of all the natural oil on your skin with a bar of soap every day,” Shepard said. “It’s insane.” To this, Padman responded, “I can’t believe I’m in the minority here of washing my whole body in the shower. Who taught you to not wash?” Kunis chimed in and said, “I didn’t have hot water growing up as a child, so I didn’t shower much anyway.” “When I had children, I also didn’t wash them every day,” she added. “I wasn’t that parent that bathed my newborns—ever.” To this, Kutcher said, “Now, here’s the thing—if you can see the dirt on them, clean them. Otherwise, there’s no point.”
