AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Benchmark Crushes 9950X3D with Huge 192MB L3 Cache

A benchmark has emerged for the anticipated AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, a rumored dual-X3D Zen 5 processor. This CPU effectively features two of the faster X3D CCDs, doubling the design of the upcoming Ryzen 7 9850X3D to establish a new Zen 5 flagship. While the Ryzen 9 9950X3D has AMD's X3D V-Cache on only one of its 8-core CCDs, the 9950X3D2 includes 3D V-Cache on both CCDs. This configuration results in a massive 192 MB of total L3 cache (96 MB + 96 MB). Furthermore, AMD is expected to utilize faster X3D CPU CCDs, which should lead to improved single-threaded and multi-threaded CPU performance. The new benchmark, shared by leaker @9550pro on X, shows the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 running on a GIGABYTE X870 AORUS Tachyon ICE motherboard. Compared to the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, which typically scores around 3397 in single-threaded and 22167 in multi-threaded tests on Geekbench, the 9950X3D2 achieved 3553 and 24340, respectively. These results translate to notable performance gains of 4.5% in single-threaded and 9.8% in multi-threaded performance, though it should be noted that this specific benchmark utilized DDR5-8000 memory. The rumored Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 is essentially a "mega" version of the current Ryzen 9 9950X3D (the "2" is key). It retains the same 16 cores and 32 threads of Zen 5 processing power but boasts double the X3D CCD cache, totaling 192MB. The new 9950X3D2 is also poised to feature a higher 200W TDP, so we should expect some impressive overclocks from the new chip when it's released.
